Purpose

This module was developed to give users control over the colors and design of their GUI (Graphical User Interface) Calendar (Please See Calendar of Events), and RSVP (Please See E-Commerce:: RSVP)

Description

This module was developed to give users control over the colors and design of their GUI (Graphical User Interface) Calendar (Please See Calendar of Events) and RSVP.  The Calendar of Events module is a graphical module which depicts a search-able calendar. As such all of the colors, and images related to pop ups (featuring individual calendar events) needs to have a tool to manage it.

This module assumes that you have some basic familiarity with the Calendar of Events, and have taken a hard look at the layout on the front of the site. It would be a good idea to print out (in color) the screen which shows the Calendar of Events page, in which to decipher properly which field controls which colors. This may take some trial and error but will allow you to have complete control over the colors used within your calendar.

This module will also allow you to control whether or not you would like to have a small calendar or a large calendar, and suggests that if you were to have two calendars on your site (both small and large), that you would need two individual records within Calendar Schemas for each display.

How To Use

Click on the Design tab within your Client Console, and then click on Calendar Schemas. This will allow you to select each of the colors used in the display of the calendar (and there are many).  This will typically take some trial and error to get right, requiring you to make your selections, re-visit the Calendar on the front end of the site, until you reach your desired design.

Tips About This Module

It is recommended that if you ever decide to change the design of your calendar, simply start a new record, and keep the old one so that you could revert back to it if you wanted. We have seen clients overwrite existing records to change the design, only to want to revert back to the old schema, and couldnt. Remember, if a record is on hold, or does not have a Site or Audience assignment to it, it will not be seen on the front end of your site.

Simply create a new record for new designs, and over time you will have a robust gallery of 'your designs' that you can use for your Main Site, Audience Types or any number of Channel 'Sites' within your portal.

Additional Information

This module has the ability to manage a large number of records, in the event you are interested in serving different records of this type to different Audience Types (Channel Sites), or Sites (Sub-Channels) within your portal. Additionally, these records have an Access Level control. This Access level allows you to serve different records to different types of members, based on whether they are logged in (Private) or not (Public).

These controls are intended for much larger portals (or the future growth of your own portal), and if not needed, it is recommended that you select 'All' for audience type, 'All' for Sites, and Access Level, select 'Both'. This will ensure that whenever you do elect to provide member level access, or create new Audience Types and Sites within your portal, that these records will be able to be immediately seen within those new areas or members.

Files uploaded within this module are actually stored in a 'Media Store' within the root directory of your site, and reference by the database which allow you to see them both within the Client Console, and while on the website (by your users). To view the 'path' created to these files, simply open an existing record that you have submitted, and right click over the image or file which exists for that record. This path that is provided can be referred to anywhere within the site, providing your users the ability to view that file within a separate browser window when clicked on. File Upload supports up to 620 file types.
