Purpose

This module was developed as a tool to give large enterprise and portal administrators the ability to quickly and easily create new Audience Types (second tier portals) and Sites (third tier portals) to expand the breadth of the enterprise.

Description

This tool can be set up (customized for your presentation needs) using Site Wizard Admin, found within the Admin tab of your Client Console. This wizard represents an easy to use stop-by-step wizard which allows you to create a new site, assign it's administrator (including what areas of the site they control) and apply design (either from selecting from an existing design gallery, or giving each site a unique design). When finished the wizard will provide you with a screenshot and link to your newly created site, which can live 'on it's own' under a distinct URL, or be referenced from the Main Site. This site will be able to be managed just as the main site is now, but by local administrators (via the web) who can log in and manage content types you allow them to. Content on their sites, can include content 'sent down' by the Main Site or Audience Type (if it is a Site), and local content can be managed by the local Audience Type or Site Administrator.

Searches within these individual sites can represent a search of 'just' their records, or can included both their records AND records from its parent audience type or site. Additionally, content can be sent upstream if the parent organization wants to use modules to 'collect' information from the local level, vis-a-vis Audience type portlets, and then consolidated (accumulation of all records) at the parent level.


How To Use

This module is found within the Sites/Administrators tab of your Client Console. When you click on Site Wizard, it will ask you if you would like to create an Audience Type or Site (within an audience type). The wizard is an automatic process, and none of the fields other than title are required (suggesting that if you don't have your site design and navigation already in mind, you can add it later). In essenece, this wizard allows you to create a new entity and its required records (Site Information, Administrator Audience Type, Color Schema, Homepage Stylesheet, Site Images, and Member record) quickly....which can be outfitted later. Without this module, it would require the manual entry of approximately seven records, in proper sequence, which required a wizard to increase it's ease of use.

Tips About This Module

There are key site properties which will allow you to properly set up a large enterprise, such as Organizational Upward Propogation (allowing contents within a site to appear 'upstream' within regions or the parent organization), Site Navigation and Site Images Source Control, which determine who gets control over these elements (from the parent company, or able to be managed locally).

The design and layout of this wizard can be managed within Wizard Admin (under the Admin tab of the Client Console) to adjust it for your internal use, or to make it look more appealing to your base of clients who may use the Site Wizard (from the front end of the site) to create their own local site.
