Centralpoint goes beyond CMS giving you other critical needed functionality for a world class web strategy: Portal, Document management, Taxonomy, Workflow, Forms management, E-Commerce, Single Sign On, Email Broadcasting and more. Centralpoint is an intelligent web strategy platform, built around mPHC, empowering you to service your many audiences and groups.
Centralpoint enables you to create and manage multiple web projects each with unique content types, designs, layouts, administrators and URLs. Centralpoint unifies your efforts, allowing you to do more with less resources. Centralpoint's weekly remote updates, regardless of where you host, responds to change each week. It is built around Multilevel Polyhierarchical classifications, competing with everything from Open Source, to complex portal applications. Beyond centralizing your information, Centralpoint harmonizes your content, allowing you to easily relate disparate content types together for an enhanced user experience.
We compete with:
1.) CMS (Only) and Open Source Vendors
There are hundreds of CMS systems on the market. Many of these competing offerings claim to be FREE. Vendors like Joomla, Zope, and others. The free price tag of open source, initially seems attractive, until you consider they require much work to make them the way you want, and really aren't free after all.
Lifetime employment contracts are required for those who need to customize it. They will be the only ones who know how it comes together. Open Source means you are gambling that the developer recommending it knows something about architecture and scalability. Most of Oxcyon's new clients are rescue operations stemming from an open-source-gone-bad scenario. Open Source assumes that developers will have all the time in the world to develop what is needed. If it cant be launched immediately, and without the need of ancillary technologies to help it along, the plan is not sound.
Like the old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'....Centralpoint provides the best of both worlds, providing clients a finished, market ready solution capable of being supported....and includes transfer of the source code of the Portal project to our client. Centralpoint supports local development and we can continue to support you through our weekly remote updates without interference. You want to avoid being lured into FREE Open Source solutions, which do little more than build long term job security for the person recommending it in the first place. How could any small team of developers keep up with all of the needed functions in your industry. Since Oxcyon works with hundreds in your space, we can leverage our knowledge of all clients for you, updating you weekly on changing standards, and functions....without additional fee (besides monthly maintenance).
2.) Proprietary Portal and Document Management Applications
Centralpoint competes with Fortune 500 vendors like Microsoft, IBM and others offering a more flexible and user friendly portal and document management solution. Centralpoint empowers you to cascade your information from the source, through any number of Audiences (microsites), serving each user differently based on their individual roles. This could mean anything from documents, to videos, to anything. Centralpoint offers all of the editorial review and workflow at each cascading level to make sure your streamlined information flows the way it is supposed to. Typically our implementation of Centralpoint can be done in half the time of larger vendors, and does not require as many resources.
3.) Industry Specific and Component Vendors
These vendors service clients within one specific vertical. Here the vendors claim they understand your business better than others. Because they work in only one industry...yours. We believe that their approach may be myopic, as dealing in only one industry puts blinders on them. These vendors are unaware of trends in other verticals which could benefit you. Oxcyon provides Centralpoint to over five verticals, and just about every day we are able to learn something from one vertical to benefit another. Component level vendors provide one stand alone application, often as a software as a service (or hosted), but these solution have no harmony with the rest of your content. Sometimes clients may lose search engine optimization opportunities, because they are serving an iFrame of hosted content ignored by Google. We believe all of your information should live under the same roof, so that you can harmonize it with other content and get full credit for it. Clients cobbling together many component solutions from disparate vendors soon find that the sum of all parts is not greater than the whole.
4.) Web Developers
Henry Ford was no friend to blacksmiths. Centralpoint is often unwelcome by most in house web developers whose job security is correlative with keeping you in the dark. Think about how many developers there are, and how each one in your industry is busy building the same general solution as the next. The days of handcrafting tools, which are now govern by standards is outdated. Client who employ their own in house developers understand this, but demand the control over design. With Centralpoint, everything is WYSIWYG, empowering non technologists to layout any design in minutes, without knowing any code. If you have a web developer vehemently opposing Oxcyon, let us know. We will gladly build your solution before you buy, so that we may demonstrate to you and him how quickly it can be done. During that demonstration we will show non technologists how we did it, and how they can change it any way they want...all without a developer.
5.) Consultants, Experts and the RFP Process
There are no shortage of experts and consultants in the internet. For many years, clients simply didn't know what to do. In this day and age, standards are in full force. There are rules, and hence very little room left to interpret the rules. You are either standards compliant or you are not. We often deal with consultants who like to spec out what tools are needed for a client's project. We quickly point out which tools were overlooked, and showcase how these other tools are already available in our module gallery.
Why hire an expert to draft your RFP, when the list of needed Web 2.0 standards is already in place. Even your custom application is probably a subtle modification of what already exists. Be sure to visit our Module Gallery, as many clients find we introduce tools that were not included in their RFP to begin with, which begs the question...Who are these experts? We think the most important thing isn't necessarily what you need today...that's easy. The real question is what will you do when you will inevitably need something new tomorrow? Only Centralpoint can give you what you need today, and via our Remote Weekly Update, provide you the tools you will need tomorrow.
The only expert who should be listened to is someone who has personally built an identical solution before. Too many technologists make it through the interview claiming their expertise, ready to take on very large budgets and control. Why are they not single handedly coding the new solutions, instead telling you which vendor to bring in, to do it for them. Also, why did their last organization let someone so valuable leave the company? The average lifespan of the e-expert is about 2.5 years, and then they move on to the next company to share their expertise.
